A concise guide to setup Oracle database connection with Java/JSP

  • Setting up Environment Variables

i) This is the most crucial part, follow as explained here

ii) Firstly we will get to know how to get to set-up environment variables in windows-XP

Right click on My Computer icon > select Properties > Click on Advanced tab > Now click on Environment Variables button

Thats all you have to do. Though there are other methods(like hitting “Win+Pause Break” key simultaneously) also but lets stick to this one. Here is visual walkthrough to this method:

iv) You are done opening the Environment Variables Panel

vi) Now next part starts where you will be creating 3 variables- JAVA_HOME, path, CLASSPATH

    Thats a very cool guide / walk-through :) {I play a lotta games}

    i have the following setup:
    Oracle 9i
    Resin 3.0.17 Web server
    JDK 1.5

    i think i can edit the dbAccess.java to work on the same…

    Hi please if you were work on linux please let me know.
    I have Suse 10 and Oracle 10g installed and I want to do this on Suse with jakarta tomcat
