[Solved] S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky - Monitor Out of Frequency Error
Scribbled on Friday, October 24th, 2008While I double clicked on desktop icon to play the game, it all sounded good except for a blank screen with audio…lol. I admit that I am playing it on onboard X3000 graphics core, but it’s the same on which I completed SoC. So what the frak is wrong with it now. Worry not, it’s a simple file editing technique to make it work.
Step by step solution is:
1. Find the user.ltx file:
- Find the user.ltx file, its generally inside Documents and SettingsAll UsersShared DocumentsSTALKER-STCS directory in Windows XP, or the UsersPublicDocumentsSTALKER-STCS directory in Windows Vista inside the drive in which your operating system is installed
or
- Alternatively you can find out the location of user.ltx from the fsgame.ltx file inside the game directory (S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Clear Sky). Open fsgame.ltx in text editor and read the first line, the path to the game setting folder is written there. Just navigate to that folder through File Explorer and find the User.ltx file there.

Look here is the user.ltx
2. Edit the User.ltx file:
- Now search for “rs_refresh_60hz” string by opening it in notepad or any text editor and then pressing CTRL+F. There the secret lies. Just change the value written after it from “off” to “on“.
- Save (CTRL+S) it and close it.

set the value to on
3. Start game and play
- So what actually happend was that you have set the refresh limit and thus there is no chance of your monitor going out of frequency, unless it’s from some antique shop :p
- Enjoy the game ! It’s awesome despite of bugs, which are fixed to a large extent in latest patch 1.5.05.
